Journal 1 - Contemporary Hero

Dave Lizewski is a normal teenager with an interest in comic books and is fed up with crime in New York City.  Being something of a nerd, he constantly gets threatened and mugged by street thugs.  After wondering why nobody ever tried to become a superhero like the in the comic books, he purchases a green and yellow diving suit and dons the pseudonym Kick-Ass.  His motivation is originally a mix of his hate for street thugs who constantly pester him, a hate for the people who watch and do nothing to help anyone, and boredom.  He originally just tries to face street thugs and makes a MySpace for people to contact him with their problems.  However, he soon winds up facing the evil drug lord Frank D’Amico.  He confronts evil for the people who have been the victims of street crimes without a real hero to protect them.  I like this hero because he is a regular guy without any kind of real powers who still strives to try to protect people.
